We've been hearing a lot surrounding a lift in avionics towards sustainability. So, last week Seri and I carpooled over to the Anaheim Convention Center to check out this year's HELI-EXPO. With Chief Pilot Woody McClendon as our guide, we were thrilled to glide through a vast collection of 'helos' and engines, and meet some folks in the business. This year's exhibitors included Bell, Rolls Royce, Eurocopter, and Agusta Westland to name a few. Among the green initiatives taking flight: Honeywell has collaborated with Boeing and are using biofuel on demonstration flights (for Japan Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Continental) and are using data to eventually influence commercial use. There's also a "Clean Sky" Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) that was launched last year in Europe to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce noise and create a green product life cycle. A lot of these vendors are starting to join up.

We're excited about the prospect of Clean working with this new facet of business and greening the blue skies!

Among the notable advancements in manufacturing, Rolls Royce featured this "microfire" engine which uses advanced materials and heat-exchanger innovations to increase fuel-efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
