"An Introduction to Clean"

Orange County
Workforce Investment Board

2009 marked a pivotal point for our country and saw all levels of government taking on a new role and influence in the economic, environmental and social impacts associated with an emerging green economy.

Through a partnership with the Orange County Workforce Investment Board, Clean has lead the group’s strategy bringing expertise in green to ensure their eligibility for grants under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) intended to stimulate the economy through the greening of infrastructure and creation of green jobs. With the help of Clean member, Dr. Robert Vos, and the Orange County Business Council, our team was able to produce an extensive, localized look at the existing industry in Orange County and forecast emerging green industry and high-value jobs based on a number of environmental, regulatory, and economic factors. Through this in-depth tailored analysis, Clean authored a Green Initiatives Steering Tactics, (GIST) document to shape future planning for green job creation, retention and training. The GIST also provides a forecast for future phases of the project to include: partnership building, additional research, monitoring, and communications/outreach to ensure the goals of the county are met.

The initial phase of this project has allowed Clean to tailor our offerings in this emerging economy and to cultivate connectivity into other organizations within a range of disciplines.
